Treating Dry Skin Golden Retrievers

Does my puppy have fleas or dry skin?

We treated him for fleas using a generic version of frontline and flea shampoo..i even searched him for fleas and i couldnt find anything on him..hes a golden retriever mix and has alot of fur so its kinda hard to look for fleas
He scratches all over his body and cries when he scratches
Idk if its dry skin because i searched his skin and it looks normal there is also no dandruf on him
We bathe him almost everyday and i heard that that makes them get dry skin but his skin looks normal

it could very well be dry skin, its bad to wash a dog frequently especially everyday. puppys under 12 weeks old should only be given frontline (if over 8 wks) and bathed in dawn dish soap to kill the fleas instantely. if you see 'dirt' next to his skin it may be 'flea dirt'. and as another said he could be allergic, my beagle is and if she gets bit once by a flea she breaks out and can't stop scratching. try to only bath him weekly at most, my dogs get bathed once or twice a month.
