Menopause And Hair Loss Hormones
Menopause And Hair Loss Hormones
I´ve been loosing LOTS of hair for quite some time now. besides stress, may I be lacking some vitamins?
for the past 5 years I´ve been going through a lot of stress so I blamed that for the hair loss, but it´s getting ridiculous, so I´m wondering if it might be something else.
I´m 53 and going through menopause and taking hormones for a couple of years now.
I´ve looked into Lush Cosmetics page at the suggestion of Caitlin but cannot find the shampoo bar especificaly for hair loss. Can help?
Could be a combination of "all", m'am. Stress doesn't help things, and being in menopause, you're dealing with hormone shifts and changes. We could also be dealing with a mineral deficiency as well.
Probably time for a physical - get checked out, get some blood work done. If this has been going on for five years, what has your doctor said?
John Jones, MD
Dr Sandra Cabot's Menopause - the real truth! (Part 3 of 3)

It's Your Hormones $12.99 From the renowned director of the Hormone Center of New York: complete cutting–edge medical and alternative strategies for living happily with your hormones–including how to enhance your sex life safely with testosterone. According to Geoffrey Redmond, M.D., a majority of the 42 million American women between the ages of 35 and 55 suffer from vulnerability to their own hormones. Appearance, feelings–and even sex drive–may be affected. Symptoms include thinning hair, persistent acne, mood swings, low energy, loss of pleasure in sex, weight gain, irregular periods, and migraines. While the media has emphasized the problems of menopause, Dr. Redmond explains that many women experience hormonal miseries even in their thirties. Lab tests are often normal because the problem is not the hormones themselves but how a woman's body reacts to them. Healthy, active women suddenly find that once quiescent hormones are ruling their lives. Because their problems are often dismissed as trivial, women who are hormonally vulnerable are frequently thwarted in their quest for help. Too often they are brushed off with remarks such as, "Your tests are normal; there's nothing wrong with you." This is tragic because, as Dr. Redmond demonstrates, hormonal balance can nearly always be restored with the treatments he details, which include individualized use of prescription medications, herbal supplements, lifestyle changes, and even spiritual practices. Many women have heard that testosterone can help sex drive, but most have not been warned about the damage that careless testosterone therapy can cause on skin and hair. In this book, Dr. Redmond, an internationally recognized authority on testosterone in women, explains the only safe ways to use testosterone. With informative sidebars, quizzes, and personal stories of women who have overcome hormone vulnerability, this helpful book will empower you to find treatments for your hormone problems that are tailored to fit your own body, biochemistry, symptoms, and lifestyle. |

Managing Menopause Naturally $9.99 In this informative new book, Dr. Emily Kane sets out to banish the current myths about menopause, making the important point that menopause is not a disease condition that requires medical intervention. It is instead, she says, a natural transition to be approached as a new type of freedom. Dr. Kane believes that menopause is a gift that allows many of us to live many more yearswithout monthly periods or the specter of unwanted pregnancies, or, for some, the roller coaster of premenstrual moodiness. This book is her road map for women, to help them navigate their way into, through, and out the other side of menopauseall the while in radiant health.Part One of Managing Menopause Naturally takes up the symptoms of hormonal change in the initial perimenopausal stage, which can include irregular menstrual periods, mood swings, hot flashes, night sweats, bone and hair loss, and foggy thinking, and provides practical, natural, non-pharmaceutical solutions. Part Two recommends incredibly useful natural solutions, including bio-identical hormones, ways to protect the liver, and many different natural supplements. Part Three discusses the roles that the ovaries and the adrenal and thyroid glands play in the female body before, during, and after menopause. The final section is an overview of how to stay healthy for a long time, and gives specifics on maintaining a functional immune system and reducing the risks of heart disease and cancer.Throughout, Dr. Kane dismantles the myths created around menopause: how it causes diseases and turns women into raging terrors; how, because women live longer now, their estrogen must be replaced; and how all menopausal women should be treated with standard hormones. She says these and other related myths are all inspired by conventional doctors and pharmaceutical companies, and tells us how it is possible, instead, to manage this transitional phase naturally and comfortably. The back of the book contains resources and references for follow-up and further information. |
