Itchy flaky scalp...?

I have a really itchy scalp and it is slightly flaky too. Its mostly itchy at night and I wash my hair about every two days as my hair gets greasy quite quickly. I was just wondering if there are any natural remedies or what kind of shampoo i should use. At the moment I'm using a highly scented shampoo for normal hair that says it will make my hair shiny. Thanks

1. The sun causes skin to get flaky. Same with hair. Massage your scalp when you shampoo.

2. Using hot water & frequently washing, makes ME have dishpan hands add sun to the formula both damaging, so does the hair. Use warm water and less.

When the hair (especially oily hair) is not washed frequently enough, skin cells may build up on the scalp and cause itch and dandruff. Prevention is by washing hair at least once a week.

Dry scalp skin lacking the protective oil layer, is vulnerable to infections, and easily gets irritated. From the top of the head or hairline skin cells in the form of white dust (dry dandruff) may shed. Common causes of dry flaky scalp are:

1. Frequent hair washing with hot water and aggressive shampoos
2. Holding hair dryer close to the head
3. Cold windy weather in combination with dry air from indoor heating
4. Even the sun is drying and causing skin to get flaky & itchy. Same with hair.

I've used Garnier for Normal hair for 10 years, but I also noticed my top scalp was itchy. I started using sample hotel shampoos (that I brought home), and my itching stopped. I bought Bath & Body Works shampoo, tried that, and my itching started again. I took it back. I am now using Aussie brand, so let's see how long that will last until I started or if my itching begins again. So far so good! . . UPDATE on Aussie: I started itching again after 3 weeks.

I've always used OTC shampoo for over 4 decades, and I've never had problems with itchy scalp or dandruff. I only condition my hair when I was perming & dyeing. I don't use conditioner haven't been since I no longer use chemicals on my hair. I also keep my hair protected from the sun, by wearing a hat or keep them tucked up.

Make sure you massage your scalp well while shampooing, then rinse 5 mins. for the back and tip your head back and rinse 5 mins. for the top. I do that, anyway, but I'll try dh's Head & Shoulders (Dermatologist suggested I should try) and see if that works. I use two towels to dry my hair, by then they're halfway dried. I air dry some or stand by the heater until it's done, then blow dry with hair dryer for 5 mins, concentrating at the roots. I am NOT following the dermatologist' advice using medicated shampoo, because her hair is dry & brittle, and she complimented me because my hair is healthier & nicer than hers, and told me TO CONTINUE whatever it was I was doing. I must be doing something right! I have another hotel sample from Marriott Hotel called Quinoa Shampoo by Davies Gate $15.00 shampoo and I started itching the next day. The Aussie I itched once by the 4th day!
Update as of today: I am now using Garnier (like before) and every other week I use the Aussie (above). My scalp had improved, and have NOT ITCHED. This is now going on for 4 months. I still wash my hair like before, every 5th day, no conditioner. I take a shower everyday, but I put my hair up.

ANOTHER tips for an itchy, dry scalp, crush up some ibuprofen and mix with shampoo. Then apply directly to scalp using a colorist's brush.
