Dry Skin Hair Thinning Symptoms

My blood cortisol at 9:00 am was 31.2 and after the cortisol test shot was 46.6, is this normal?

I am 32, have been suffering from a number of symptoms, one being extreme fatigue, poor sleep, thinning hair, cold, weight gain, dry skin, brittle nails, irritibility, mood swings. I am on a birth control pill. Many tests have been run, my thryoid tests all come back very normal. I went to endocrine to rule out a adenal insuffiency. They drew my blood and it was 31.2 mcl dL at 9:00 am and they gave me the cortisyn shot and made me wait and then drew again and it was 46.6 mcl dL. Is this normal?
I'm at a loss, if this is normal as well I have no idea why I feel so cruddy and have all this going on, I have always been very healthy and I don't want them to say it's just all in my head because I know it isn't.
I'm not sure the name of the test but they gave me 0.25 mg of cortrosyn so not sure if it is the ACTH test or another test
They tested my TSH, T3 and T4. In Jan my T3 Total was 133, my TSH was 1.44, my T4 Free was 1.18

What test was done? When you say shot it sounds like an ACTH test. If it is this test, than yes these results are normal. If it is a dexamethasone suppression test, then you will most likely have a pituitary tumor.

A Dexamethasone suppression test - Cortisol not suppressed by low or high doses indicates cushing syndrome (tumor on the pituitary gland).

ACTH (“Synacthen”) Stimulation test - this test involves measuring the concentration of cortisol in a patient’s blood before and after an injection of Synacthen. If the adrenal glands are functioning normally, then cortisol levels will rise following the injection.

That said, your symptoms do also sound like hypothyroidism. Was just your TSH test done? A full test with full T3 and T4 and thyroid antibodies should be performed. You can also check your temperature every morning. Basal temperatures before getting out of bed should be between 97.8 – 98.2 F and 98.6 F at 3 pm. If it is lower than these temperatures, this can indicate hypothyroidism.

It could also be hormonal issues. I would suggest a fertility test for estrogen and progesterone levels.

Edit: The cortrosyn is for an ACTH stimulation test...results are normal.

Thyroid tests are in the normal range
TSH - 0.3 - 3.0mU/L
T3 - 83 - 200 ng/dl
T4 - 0.8 - 1.5 ng/dl
