Cure Dry Skin Dogs

My dog has scabs and 'sleep'. Please help?

I've discovered lots of dry skin amongst my dog's fur, I searched for a while, and then found some scabs on his back, no where else on his body.
Is this normal?

Please tell me how to cure it.
Also, my dog also has SO much ''sleep'' coming from his eyes, it mats his fur and makes it stick together, so he can't even see out his eyes from behind his matty, sleepy fringe.
Please help, any remedies?

One of my dogs get dry and flaky skin during winter. The solution for that is to give her baths with good quality shampoos and conditioners. However she doesn't get scabs. It sounds like it could be fleas or some other type of parasite. Do you use any flea and tick products? It might be wise to take your dog to the vet so they can take a skin sample to look at under a microscope.

I don't know too much about about eye goop, but I have heard that good mouth hygiene can help reduce it. So try getting toothpaste and a toothbrush for your dog at the pet store if you don't already have these. Not sure if that is true or not but in any case when did good mouth hygiene ever hurt anyone?
