Cracked Dry Skin Groin

Rash type thing on inside of my leg/groin area?

I am wondering what I have or any idea of what I have, I have had little red circles in clusters on my inner thigh and groin area for about 3 days now. They are not raised, they are flat, it almost looks like dry skin because you can see the skin cracked a little and flakey dead skin fall off every time i rub it. It is only itchy sometimes at night when i am sleeping, its not even itchy when i sweat, I am sexually active with one partner and have been for about 5 months, she is disease free and we have had no problems before, I do not know if it has to do with that but I just thought I would mention it considering the region it is in. I am a 23 year old male and it is only on the right side of my leg/groin area. Like I said, no raised bumps just flat and they look kind of like in grown hairs or pimples just not raised. Any idea of what this could be?

To start, I am not a doctor, so if it continues for more than 2 weeks, I would see one. It sounds to me like a number of things. Have you used any new detergents/soap/dryer sheets etc recently? It could be contact dermatitis - try benadryl or hydrocotisone cream . It might also be a yeast infection or "ring worm" (which is actually a fungus). Women carry lots of yeast and our bodies adjust, if your leg stays damp and has yeast on it, you can develop a mild rash - try Lotrimin (Athlete's foot spray) it will help either. It could be ingrown hairs from sweat or moisture in the area - try rubbing it gently with a washcloth and warm water when you are in the shower, then apply a mild antibiotic like Polysporin or tea tree oil. Now having ruled out microbes, bacteria and allergies....you might be dealing with a virus. In that case, only a doctor can help, but there are many antiviral medications on the market as well (by prescription). Good luck , and don't worry.
